Welcome to St Robert Southwell Catholic Primary School. We are delighted that you have taken time to find out more about us here in Horsham.
As a Catholic school our aim is to instill in our children a sense of Christian values and to nurture their knowledge and understanding of their faith. We wish to provide a curriculum and create a learning environment, which values the uniqueness of each individual and enables him or her to achieve their full potential so that they may contribute positively to society.
We are committed to learning to learn which is abo
ut helping children understand the process of learning and about developing strategies to improve learning.
We seek to serve the parish and community in which we exist and view partnership with parents as a key element in achieving this aim. Children make most progress when parents are fully involved in their children's learning and so we foster close cooperation between home and school.
St Robert Southwell Catholic Primary School is located in Roffey on the northern outskirts of Horsham. The school is very well resourced and maintained and it provides a very attractive and exciting working environment for all staff and pupils. The school was founded as a First School by Father Gregory Williams in 1975. The building underwent extensive redevelopment in 1993 and in 1995 the school changed from First to Primary status.
The building comprises 5 attractive and spacious classrooms all overlooking the school grounds. Outside most classrooms there is a covered area where children can work or eat their lunch. There is a hall, two libraries, toilets, (one with access for those with disabilities), administrative accommodation, an ICT suite and Inclusion room.
The school has won many major awards, including Fairtrade Status and the Green Flag for Gold ECO Status. The continual development of the outdoor environment provides an excellent resource for all areas of the curriculum.
The school grounds include; a rosary garden, sacramental garden, pond, Victorian herb garden, organic garden, sensory gardens with wildflower banks and butterfly gardens, an amphitheatre, fort, pirate ship and an all-weather adventure trail. All of our environmental work is carried out by a partnership of children, staff and parents.
New parents are very welcome to come and visit the school to see the excellent facilities for themselves.
