WELCOME to St Mary’s Catholic Primary School. On behalf of the governors, staff, children and everyone associated with us, thank you for considering St Mary’s as the school for your child.

St Mary’s is a small, friendly school set in beautiful countryside on the outskirts of the historic South Staffordshire village of Brewood. There has been a school on the site – just behind St Mary’s Catholic Church – since 1845.

Our school caters for both Catholic and non-Catholic boys and girls from the ages of 4 to 11. After attending St Mary’s, most children transfer to Blessed William Howard Catholic High School in Stafford.

Our youngsters are drawn not only from Brewood itself, but also from the surrounding villages – primarily Penkridge and Wheaton Aston to the north, Coven to the east and Bishop’s Wood to the west, as well as intervening hamlets. Staffordshire County Council provides transport free of charge for Catholic children travelling from these outlying villages.

At St Mary’s we seek to inspire all our pupils to achieve full potential in their academic, Christian and social lives. The Catholic ethos pervades every aspect of school life; there are strong links with the local parish church of St Mary’s and the children and their families are encouraged to share in parish life and all it has to offer.

We are very proud of our happy school and its children. I hope the information contained here offers you an insight into the life of St Mary’s and helps you decide if it is the place for your son or daughter.
